If you’re searching for the perfect elopement location in Europe, Isle of Skye, Scotland is the most stunning and dramatic location you could choose! Full of pools, mountains, beaches, and fields, this location is ideal for those that love a moody and dramatic landscape! Expect a bit of rain and a whole lot of sheep!!

Isle of Skye is full of small villages, but Portree is the main town on the Island! If you’re planning on exploring the Northern end of the island (Storr, Quiraing, Nest Point) this is the town with restaurants, accommodations and stores nearby!
If you’re looking to stay on the South side of the island (Elgol, the pools, mountains) Broadford is the next “major” town on Skye! It has a petrol station and a larger co-op to get food from!
The easiest way to Skye is by flying into Inverness and driving for 2-3 hours to the island! The next easiest that may work with your travel schedule more is flying into Glasgow and driving along the West Coast to Skye!
It’s necessary to have a car in Skye to access all the stunning locations! Driving on the left really isn’t as bad as people think!
Skye is known for some of the most breathtaking hikes in Scotland! The views all over the island are otherworldly and aren’t like anything you have at home! While in Scotland, petting a highland cow, saying “hi” to sheep friends, and going whiskey tasting are all a part of the experience!

The Fairy pools are on the south end of Skye and so stunning! There’s a small river that flows into pools with stunning views of the mountains. It’s a short walk (about 2 miles rt) with a pretty flat path! It’s easy to get to, but may have a good amount of tourists around!

Elgol Beach is on the south side of Skye and can be reached by a single track road! There’s also a ferry that leaves here to some other stunning parts of the island! Elgol beach features stunning mountains in the background of a bright blue sea. The white rocks and texture of the cliff is so insane and stunning!

One of the most well known parts of the island, The Quiraing is a stunning geographical feature that literally shows the earth splitting. The rolling green hills and cliff sides are such a stunning feature of Skye. It’s a short walk around, but can get a bit touristy!

The Storr is a stunning rock feature on Skye! The folklore is that the tall rock formations are giant’s fingers! There’s so many interesting lookouts on this feature, but it’s a big hike up (lots of elevation gain) over the course of about 2 miles. It can also be a pretty popular hike, so it may be a little busy depending on the season!

The Sligachan falls are right in the middle of the island! It’s a beautiful water feature with mountains in the background. If you’re wanting to do two locations, these falls and something like The Quiraing is easily doable on the same day! There’s a beautiful old bridge nearby, and the walk is pretty easy! It’s a great spot to explore!

Hi! I’m Meghan, a photographer originally from the US, now living in Edinburgh, Scotland! I love showing people around this beautiful city and giving them fun photos from the new place they just visited!!
Since I’m based in Scotland, Isle of Skye is like my backyard (I know you’re jealous, but now you can come visit so it’s okay!) All my packages include every planning resource you could need, endless calls with me, 4 hours of photo coverage (with the option to add more), at least 300 photos, and a sneak gallery within 72 hours! I also shoot photos and video and the same time and you can add on a highlight film of your day to keep your moments in motion and only have one vendor to touch base with!
